★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kaikoura Lookout is perfect. From the moment you walk in the door it's obvious that a lot of thought and effort has been put into this place. While it is not bursting with kitchenware or electronics, it has everything you need for a relaxing getaway (including a hot tub). Lisa is also a fantastic host, offering help where needed but otherwise leaving you to enjoy the private sanctury in peace. We will defintely be back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Start with one of the most beautiful views in the world, in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Add a beautifully designed and furnished, off-grid dwelling house and the sound of the wind and the birds, and you have Kaikoura Lookout.
If you do come, try and come for more than a night. And if the skies are clear at night don’t forget to look up and marvel at the stars and the great smudge that is the Milky Way.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s a fabulous place in an amazing location and it was really interesting living “off the grid” even just for a night. Obviously there will be challenges living off the grid but the cottage was wonderful and certainly had all the facilities for a very relaxing stay. The food and Pinot Noir you provided couldn’t be faulted – the lamb racks were the best we have ever had and we enjoyed it for dinner and brunch the next day as well!! Love the hot tub!!
Despite the weather not being the best, it was still a wonderful way to spend a night away. We really liked your website too and found it very informative and attractive.
