About Learning Tree Childcare Albany
Curriculum
We are committed to follow the aspirations of the New Zealand National ECE Curiculum, Te Whāriki,
“For children to grow up as competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society”.
Te Whāriki envisages kaiako in early learning settings working in partnership with parents, whānau and community to realise this vision. The expectation is that, in their early years, children will experience a curriculum that empowers them as lifelong learners.
Te Whāriki supports this work by providing a framework of principles and strands. The principles are the foundations of curriculum decision making and a guide for every aspect of pedagogy and practice. The strands are 5 areas of learning and development, where the focus is on supporting children to develop the capabilities they need as confident and competent learners. Each setting takes these principles and strands and, in partnership with parents and whānau, uses them to ‘weave’ a curriculum whāriki that is specifically designed for their children.

The teachers are caring and nurturing. Teachers encourage lots of exploration my my daughter, and she is having lots of fun in variety of activities. Recommend to have a visit to see for your family.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Both our boys have been at Learning Tree Albany for 2 years now. The teachers are incredibly dedicated and show so much interest in our children's development and overall well being. Our children have developed close bonds with many of their teachers. The teachers have a keen sense of awareness of the children's interests and keep the classes interesting, eg. live chickens with hatching eggs, caterpillars developing into butterflies, outings to the park to look for insects, etc. It has been very special to watch our children blossom in this secure and caring environment.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My baby has been in the learning tree for almost 4 months, she started at 10 months old. She is a sensitive girl so I was so worried about the transition from home to day care. But the teachers in little bunnies were so patient and gave her lots of attention and supports. She is happy to go there everyday now, and enjoyed the time playing with her friends outside. During festivals teachers would take photos for her and make special cards to take home, photos are always lovely. Good meals provided every day. I am happy that I made a good choice :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My daughter went to Learning Tree in Albany for over 2 and a half years, and absolutely loved the place. All the teachers were lovely, caring and i always felt safe leaving her behind. There is so much space for the kids to explore, both outdoors and indoors, and plenty of activities to explore their young minds. I could not recommend this place more, can't fault it.
