The tours were very informative and helped me learn alot about it. Would definitely recommend for a good day out

Being the oldest prison in NZ they offer good old historical tour as well as the spooky ghost tour. You'll be given a headset for the tour, and since everyone is listening through their own headset you can choose the tour for yourself even if you are going there as a group. Perfect for those doesn't feel too comfortable with ghost stories or history lesson whichever it might be.
They even offer escape room experience, if you want the extra challenge.
The staff there are quite friendly and knowledgeable, if you have a chat with them they might have their own ghost stories to share.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here today. It was quite interesting walking around and touring through the prison. We actually stopped listening to the guide audio piece because it was too longwinded and boring. I enjoyed the info that are stuck on the walls at each places though.

My kids loved it. We will come back another time and do an Escape Room experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We chose to do the kid tour. We believe it is not kid friendly. I recommend the kid tour for 13 and up. Some of the details got my boys asking questions. Nowhere did it have an age restriction. I would say that would be helpful. Overall well set up. We liked the way that is was left how it was.

If you like something challenging and creepy place, this is the best spot..
The prison not so big but creepy enough to make you goosebumps all the time during the tour.
You only need to pay around $20-$25/person and ready to do the tour.
