A good starting point for walks into Maungakawa Scenic reserve, this park features several picnic tables, benches and some great views over Cambridge and the surrounding landscape

Gudex Reserve (also called Maungakawa and Sanatorium Hill) is a historical site of a 1890s era 25 room mansion and was later owned by the Government and used as a Sanatorium for tuberculosis sufferers and and place for recovering soldiers after WW1. It has some amazing views of Cambridge and the Waikato, its a great place for a picnic and is especially worth visiting at sunset.

Loved it lots of space for children and dogs to play and a lovely bush walk loop! Amazing being above the clouds at the start with the view emerging once the cloud/fog lifted! Lots of picnic tables and spaces to be. Nicely mown and kept grounds!

Great place for a picnic on a still day. Fantastic place to watch the sunset across to Mt Pirongia. History of the site also interesting and all very accessible from Cambridge by car (or bike if you have the stamina) and has a couple of good bush walks.

Another great kiwi Touge replica, Maugakawa Road lies on it's way to this great lookout spot. Theres about 5 hairpin turns on this route with some featuring a double apex making it a great course to practice some more precise vehicle maneuvering as you blast up and down in your mx5 or rolla. For sure smaller cars are better going on this one, it can be difficult to make the most out of the power from a turbo car as it cant easily be applied due to the slower nature of this route with turn after turn action. Heavy cars will suffer mostly on the downhill run too so be cautious on the left handers, theres one in particular that may catch you out. Keep going and you can do a loop around to Te Miro school which is a great spot to park up with your crew at with some quicker roads around this area too. ?

It was a hot humid day. The walk in the forest was lovely and cool. Its very tranquil with bird life. There are picnic tables and toilets. Dogs are allowed on lead. The walk has lots of stairs. Great views over Cambridge and surrounds.
