★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a pleasure to drive a few minutes up the gorgeous coast from Gizzy to get a Saturday morning coffee fix at the Tatapouri Camp ground Cafe! The barista's are so friendly and the setting is amazing...the only place here you can purchase your coffee then watch the waves ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful spot! We stayed in on of the glamping tents and it was gorgeous. Overall nice facilities, great spa and sauna. Very peaceful and relaxing.
Our first night wasn't great as it was extremely windy, a bit scary! But the second one was very restful and tranquil.
If you want to contact staff or need any assistance, you have to go to the reception area. I wonder what would happen in case of an emergency if the phone coverage is not great either.
More power points in the tent would be great, or at least more accesible.
As there's a cafe that opens to the public on the weekends, we found out people visiting the cafe is allowed to use the toilets for glamping guests. So not very private.
Kitchen facilities for glamping guests are ok, but somehow a bit far from the tents.
Definitely coming back, maybe not to the tents but to one of the cabins!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just wrapped up a couple of nights here and while the campground is in great condition and well maintained a warning must be given.
You’re sleeping extremely close to the highway in and out of Gisborne. Logging trucks are non stop going past only meters from your camp which makes for a very restless night along with other traffic.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed in the Zen Cabins at Tatapouri Bay for 5 days in April 2022. The Zen cabins are luxury right on the beach providing amazing views of the sunrise in the morning and the moon and stars at night from the comfort of the bed. The owners and staff were all really helpful and their recommendations of activities and places to eat were on point. I definitely recommend and will hopefully go back one day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I booked my Belle tent experience well in advance as these are very popular. My stay was at the end of November. My first night was amazing and I was happy with all the amenities. Previous comments about the area not being great for swimming and the mobile coverage being non-existent are fair but this is what makes it quiet and serene. I swam elsewhere. I found the kitchen facilities to be adequate and clean and the staff friendly. The bed was very comfortable and the sunrise was spectacular. I also enjoyed the spa on the waterfront ( extra cost...need to book)
Unfortunately, my second night was heavily marred by the long party held in the 2 belle tents next to mine. Extra guests arrived and stayed the night and the party went on till the wee small hours with loud music etc. Because of the lack of mobile signal I could not phone the staff to ask for help and I did not think to use messenger or another app. I did, however, send an email at about 11.30pm asking them to sort this out. To this day I have not received any reply.
As the tent cost me almost $400 for the 2 nights I admit to being quite disappointed. I know that the couple in the tent on the other side of mine were too....despite living in Gisborne they had come out as a treat for the "serenity and the sunrise"
It is unlikely that I would stay again.
