About Tosca and Salome
At Tosca & Salome we believe the future of the fashion industry should be sustainably focused, honest and have a positive impact on the environment and our community whether here in NZ, or from those communities where the brands we house employ their workers. Join us as we progress and grow to better our practices through this wonderful industry.
Here at Tosca, we are a small, presently all female team, with everyone having an essential role in running the business. We seek in house for arranging photo shoots, styling, social media content, drawing collections, sampling garments and drawing our prints. All hands are always on deck, and we love and cherish the wonderful little team we have.
We are all about natural fabrics at Tosca - these not only have a lesser impact on the environmental waste in our world, but also on communities and livelihoods in the way it is produced. As fabric is so precious, and often difficult to get our hands on, we value our selected fabrics immensley. This is increasingly important due to the ongoing difficulties in supply chains worldwide due to COVID 19. Our collection numbers are often based on very small runs, and we will often make very small capsules based on leftover offcuts or metres of fabric with only a handful of dresses.
We are so lucky to be able to choose our own fashion calendar, meaning we work within our own frameworks, and not the typical seasons of 'fast fashion'. We have a very close relationship with our Bali manufacturers, and by working within our own timelines - gives us the time we both deserve to communicate, design, sample and produce the beautifully made small batches of garments we produce. We resonate ourselves closely with Balinese culture and artisan. Our garments are imbedded with admirable Balinese craftsmanship including; hand stitching embellishments, hand drawn and hand cut patterns, hand bundle dying and hand cut fabric. We enjoy this process as it means there is so much more love and care behind the garment you wear.
It is important to us, that you choose styles carefully and make sure your new piece compliments your existing wardrobe.
Given the opportunity, we will forever put our planet and our beautiful community first. We will continue to progress and update you on our sustainable practices as we move forward. That's why you'll notice we are fazing out some of our 'old' brands and introducing new brands to our Tosca stores which align with this idealogy.

β β β β β Me and my friend entered the Newmarket store today and was greeted and served by a lovely lady with gorgeous red hair. The store and the products are absolutely fabulous and I will be returning very soon!

β β β β β This was the worst online shopping experience I have ever had. I put a $225 item on lab- by from Australia, they are a NZ store the plan was to make regular payments " The staff member" was going to send weekly invoices, this didn't happen. I then tried to contact the store via their online contact form numerous times but it kept saying failure to send. I tried emailing " The staff member" whom I believe is one of the managers via the email she contacted me on the first time, 4 times with no reply, she only replied when I mentioned the word fraud. I tried calling the store but it also said disconnected. As a consumer what would you think? I then asked if I could cancel my lay-by as I didn't feel confident in sending them a further $180 dollars. The staff member refused to refund my $45 deposit as it was against their policy to refund for a "simple change of mind". This wasn't a simple change of mind, this was poor communication and customer service. The staff member even said that she was bemused by my attempts to contact them. Kelly

β β β β β Do not buy from Tosca and Salome if you may need to return items. Today I was called by the manager and accused of 'fraud'. I returned a dress in January for a store credit (with tags on, unworn, in original tissue paper), subsequently, I brought the same dress in a larger size from another stockist. On Feb 12th, I brought another dress from Spells new collection and returned that dress (with tags on, unworn, in original tissue paper) for a credit due to it not fitting my body shape - if I was to size up it still would not fit me properly. I live in CHCH and therefore cannot go into the shop to try any sizes on. I received a call today when they received my second return saying that they had looked me up on Facebook and had seen in my profile picture, me wearing the same dress that I had first returned and immediately accused me of fraud, sought legal advice, and banned me from their shop - all without asking me for an explanation. I have since sent the receipt of the dress I brought from the other stockist to prove I, in fact, did not wear this dress and return it fraudulently. They think that x2 returns of $300 dresses is "so many returns" and therefore that person should be investigated for fraud. After sending me a mediocre email apology, they will still not give me credit, and are sending back my return. Do not shop here if you are unsure about Spell sizing/making an expensive purchase, you will be disappointed at their customer service.
