★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I arrived at 7.30am (opens at 8.00am) and it took all up 6 hours to get warrant. I understand staff shortages, backlog etc but there was zero empathy from staff. Queued out on the street I had no idea of wait time and it would be great if they could of informed us. I reached a sign after 2 hours of waiting that said 2 hours wait time from here. I started to phone around and the Warkworth branch only had 3 cars waiting but after already waiting all this time I decided to stay. When I was 5th inline I decided to go in and pay and use the bathroom. A security guard on the door said "read the sign" which said to wait in car until you were in front of the queue. I explained I didn't want to wait in there just pay. He said if my car wasn't in the front I couldn't go in. When I finally went in the lady on the desk said the reason for the sign is that they can't refund money if you don't wait. It would of been nice if he communicated this rather than telling me to read a sign.
It was not busy in the office (2 reception staff plus security guard). They can't help it being busy but could communicate to customers and at least offer the bathroom and water when sitting outside for 5 hours!!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Done my full license practical driving test today and I had the worst experience with the driving test officer David K who yelled at me in front everyone at the reception. I informed him that I am deaf but he couldn't care less and still made me feel embarrassed and ashamed. I gave him no reason to fail me but he still did. He is a grumpy, arrogant and extremely rude old man Wouldn't recommend anybody going to Silverdale VTNZ to sit their practical driving test.

Took my son for a driving test. Car had a blown brake light bulb. Was told "bad luck - book again" turned his back and walked away. I asked if he was able to sort a bulb for us - the answer was "no, the systems aren't running yet" and again turned his back and walked away. I asked to talk to his boss - his boss saunters out a few mins later with his cup of tea and gives me all sorts of excuses - I wasn't here / the office was locked / I was getting a cup of tea / we don't have those bulbs (the first guy didn't even look to know). No apology for his co-workers lack of any concept of customer service. I mean how difficult is it to have a few of the most popular bulbs there and charge us for them? Or to show the slightest bit of interest in helping us out? Instead they have an extremely grumpy customer who will never go there again and tell everyone how hopeless they are. My son had to pay another $80 for another test over a $4 bulb. The guy hates his job and wants to take it out on the customer. He should not be in a customer facing role - they obviously have a terrible culture at this branch.
So got a bulb - booked a test at VTNZ Glenfield 2 hours later,. Did the test and everyone at that branch was pleasant and helpful - I didn't ask if they had bulbs - should have.
Takeaway - if you need a driving test stay away from VTNZ Silverdale and go to VTNZ Glenfield (and make sure all your bulbs are working before you go).
Oh and VTNZ don't bother telling me to go to the complaints page on your website - already done it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Decided to come here on a Tuesday thinking it may be a bit quicker than normal. 2 & 1/2 hour wait and when we arrived there were only 4 cars in front of us. Biggest waste of time. Both lanes were not utilised.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There's a charming duo who work the counter at VTNZ Silverdale and they made an 8:30am trip to update my rego quite pain free.
Sadly they're not a dime a dozen and one has to treasure staff who go out of their way to add a smile to one's day ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After reading the reviews on this centre in regards to practical driving tests it’s clear to see that there is consistently people commenting on the attitude of the test instructor David K. After sitting my test today I would NOT recommend silverdale VTNZ to do your driving test. Awful experience. Extremely rude instructor. Management why aren’t you addressing the issues here ? Why don’t you record every test to ensure that they are not purposely failing people ?
