Prime position with unobstructed panoramic east-facing views of Mercury Bay. The manager's greeting was genuinely friendly and helpful. We stayed three nights over Christmas 2020 in Unit 209 which was huge. The bathroom was cavernous and the shower water pressure amazing - stand back when you turn it on! Good sized fridge with separate freezer compartment if you need to store food for an extended stay. This place would have been very high-end when it was built, but some of the fixtures & fittings are getting a little tired now. That said, we found it excellent - clean, with very comfortable super-king size bed and plenty of pillows. Wifi worked well after a brief false start which only required a modem reset to fix. Heat pump worked well. Pool will be very much enjoyed in the summer months. Off-street parking is great. Tariff is very reasonable. We will definitely be back.

We found this accommodation on line advertised at $184 for the night After calling up at about 8.30 at night we could not book over phone and was asked to drive to reception and call in to get the room then. We changed our plans to arrange this as you can normally secure a room buy paying on the first call and be given instructions on where to get the key. In all Motels that I have stayed in the person is aware of the other sites selling their accommodation and I have always been offered the room at that rate. The hotel was empty by her admission. I dispute the 4 star rating as false advertising , the bathroom has dispensers for soap ect but empty Light bulbs missing or not working. Mold in the fridge . We did miss check out , but happy to pay . I was asked to come down to the office to see if there was any availability for another night , and thinking that they are not busy would charge the same for a second night . I was offered the room again at same price as night before $184 ish. Manager came back to room after taking payment to advise the room was charged out at $210 for the first night and again Owner wanted $210 for second night. Currently offered at $190 on google . Be aware of this when booking here . ask the price do not TRUST her on the phone !!!!!! The fact she acted in this way is deceiving

Honestly the worst customer service I have dealt with from the owner. We had booked a stay for a long weekend, we get there and our room has been double booked so there is someone else staying in there. They have no room for us to stay in, bear in mind I had paid prior to the stay and received all sorts of confirmation emails. The lovely receptionist found us somewhere else local to stay, which we had to pay for ofc on top of already had paid for this stay. then it took WEEKS for the owner to even get back to us after multiple emails/texts/calls. She would not hold any accountably for what happened, shifted the blame and wasn’t even apologetic. This alone makes me never want to stay here and I will be telling everyone I know to avoid it at all costs. The owner had a chance to rectify her mistakes and she did not, hence the review I didn’t want to have to write.

We turned up to the motel and the toilet was broken! Yes handing off the wall, usable and unsafe. Unbelievable, we contacted reception and they said yes we know about it it been like that for a wile??? So we asked for another room and they are booked out! I don’t understand why they didn’t let us know and just let us check? We arrived after a big drive late, could have called us before we got there giving us the opportunity to book elsewhere. To add to the insult they said they would give us a part refund which after many calls and emails they have not done. Save your self the stress and keep scrolling to the next hotel to book.

Ok stay. Communication is lacking. Paid extra $40 for the breakfast included option online, but it was not provided. Attempted to call the first number but was told it is after hours and to call the second owner number. The second number doesn’t pick up multiple times. Would definitely look elsewhere in the future and suggest others to do so. (Also, the customer service was very rude.)

This place is incredibly unsanitary. Pink and black mould build up on the bath/shower that easily wipes away, the toilet barely flushes if at all, the bathroom cupboards are water damaged, the drains in the tiled floors stink of wafting stale sewerage, the kitchen items in the cupboards need washing before use as they’re not properly clean, none of the phone numbers to contact the lodge work they’re inactive or disconnected, the phone room to ring through to reception goes unanswered. We don’t know if we’re able to swim in the pool as it is constantly covered and we’ve not seen anyone tend to it, the couch is worn fake leather which flakes when you sit on it, half the remotes don’t work as the batteries in them are old and eroded. The place is very dated and Unhygienic, I have taken photos for evidential purposes. The most frustrating fact is we’re unable to contact anyone with the information they’ve provided to be able to have anything rectified or our room serviced. Reception is completely unattended. When We arrived was the only time a phone number did work to let us know the key was in the door to let ourselves in. We have paid high prices to stay here and we expected that would reflect the service and premises.

Poor customer service. Treated us like it was annoying to them that we had booked a room. Room was not clean. Lots of things broken and tired. No one to meet you in the office, no explanation of anything in the room. Very little info in room to explain anything in whitianga or the hotel itself. Definitely will not stay here again. Such a shame was really looking forward to this, it was supposed to be a special night which was partially ruined by several thing being broken and the interactions we experienced. I would say, if you do not enjoy dealing with customers or spending the money to keep rooms up to standard then perhaps owning a motel is not for you.
