★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is the best Afghan restaurant I've been to. I've tried a few in Australia before but this one in Christchurch is certainly the best.
The lamb is very delicious and tender. The curry chicken literally falls off the bone. Even the rice tastes great! Portion size is very generous and the two chefs out the front are friendly.
Can see why this is such a popular place amongst locals and travellers. It's worth the wait !
Great place! Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was a very new experience for us to dine in at Afgan Restaurant! They dont have any menus. You go there, take plates and cutleries, take a seat and when the food would be ready u will be called in the counter!
Food was delicious which actually counts and also behaviour of the owners are lovely. Price is reasonable as well..It was too much food for us, had to pack for takeaways!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I can’t recommend this place enough. They have one set meal with is lamb and chicken skewer on rice with a chicken curry and a salad for $20 per person. The meat was oh so succulent and moist and the rice is very tasty too! This is IMHO a Christchurch institution!
My compliments to the chef for his amazing meal!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You are better off served first dining in than take away. Favourite haunt for locals. No menu - flavoured rice, mixed kebabs (chicken & lamb), salad and chicken curry. Simply state how number of pax :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The closest thing to world travel since this pandemic started is being transported to the Far East with food from this INCREDIBLE Afghan restaurant. Cannot rave about this place enough. We’ve had better food here than at many ‘critically acclaimed’ places in Christchurch. The value for money is insane, the service always friendly but no nonsense and the food 10/10. We often make the 1hr return trip just to get our fix. There are always leftovers, so we bring a takeaway container to reduce plastic use.
