β β β β β Akaroa House is perfectly situated in the town it's named after, just a few minutes set back from the bay which means it's quiet, peaceful and just a short stroll to the shops, cafes and restaurants in the town.
Alison and Ross were the perfect hosts and really made the stay special, with great communication prior and during my visit. I arrived at 01:00 in the morning which was no trouble, I was even welcomed with tea and biscuits. Both hosts were super knowledgable about the local area and helped me plan a mammoth hike across the ridge. It was the most beautiful hike I've ever made, the scenery is completely stunning.
My room was spacious, private and had an oversized bathtub overlooking the gardens. I also checked out the apartment they rent out situated next to the main house which would be great for a couple or small family. I also enjoyed the property's beautiful gardens, the perfect spot for a tea overlooking the views.
I can't wait to return one day.

β β β β β We were very lucky to get a room here last minute after weather cancelled our outdoor plans in Kaikoura. With nothing else to do there, we decided to move on a night early to Banks Peninsula & found this wonderful place to stay
Akaroa House is walking distance from most sites down in a town or a quick drive if needed. The King room we stayed in was lovely & comfortable, with a nicely appointed en suite shower. The house itself is historic & has a lovely interior. Breakfast was tasty & Pam was very helpful in offering to feed us early before we headed out for a paddle with Pohatu penguins.
I highly recommend a stay with Akaroa House & a minimum of one overnight in Akaroa as you travel the South Island. It is an extremely pretty little town with a lot to do & see.

β β β β β There's classic B&B and also a self contained apartment in a separate building with a separate entrance. This is where we stayed for two days. Ideal location in walking distance to town, wharf, beach, etc. but still quiet. Apartment is spacious, well designed and well equipped - even with washing facilities and a BBQ. Can not imagine a better place to stay in Akaroa.
Check in advance for cruise ship days. We were lucky but if I imagine what thousands of extra people could do to this lovely town - can only be a nightmare.

β β β β β My friends and I had a wonderful three night stay at beautiful Akaroa House in late October. With stunning views and close to the village, it is an ideal place to unwind and relax. Alison and Ross made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed some great conversations over a delicious breakfast each morning. Highly recommended.

β β β β β Akaroa House is a beautiful house that sits on the hill with views over the harbour and a short walk to the town. The accommodation of a lovely large bedroom and bathroom with shower and bath is beautifully finished and has views of the harbour and a terrace. Alison and Ross made us feel immediately welcome and were very helpful with suggestions for our stay. We recommend Akaroa House without reservation

β β β β β We recently enjoyed our second stay at Akaroa House... and hopefully not our last. I canβt recommend it highly enough. The house is so beautiful, the location ideal, the views fabulous, and Alison and Ross are exceptional hosts. They offered us so many hints and tips about places to go and things to do in and around Akaroa (so many that we definitley have to come back again) and when the weather hampered our outdoor plans, Ross lit the fire and invited us to enjoy the comfort of their lovely sitting room. Breakfast is worth a review in its own right. Homemade muesli, fruit from the Akaroa House garden, homemade jams, a seemingly bottomless teapot (!) and lots of lovely extra details get the day off to a memorable start. If youβre looking for somewhere extra special to stay in Akaroa, this is definitley the place.

β β β β β Akaroa house is outstanding, a great location with stunning views and top class service.
We had a two night stay but could have easily stayed longer. The hosts are welcoming and very friendly and staying here was a wonderful relaxing experience.
The room was luxurious, private and very quiet, we even had a private courtyard where we sat and read our books in the afternoon.
The breakfast was healthy and delicious, just superb.
We highly recommend Akaroa House and will certainly stay again very soon.
Thank you both.
Angie and Paul.

β β β β β Our stay at Akaroa House was beyond our expectations. The beautiful home and grounds have a great view over Akaroa and the harbour. Alison and Ross were top hosts, attentive and interested in us as guests, making us feel at home and providing well for any needs. Our upstairs rooms were spacious, comfortable and sparkling clean. Breakfasts, including home made breads, muesli and preserves, were delicious and relaxed. The combination of Alison and Ross and their beautiful home make Akaroa House a delightful accommodation.
