About Aramoho-Wanganui Rowing Club

Aramoho Whanganui Rowing Club has an active membership of over 100 rowers aged from 13 to late '60s.  Our membership is drawn from Whanganui High School students and the local community.

The Aramoho Whanganui Rowing Club teaches the sport of rowing, offering its facility to all sectors of the community.  A broad selection of new 'Novices' join annually, usually from the school sector, and are nurtured through the grades to senior level and even to national selection. They develop not only the ability and technique of how to row but excellent training and work ethic. The teamwork, club spirit and camaraderie that comes from this stay with them through a lifetime.  The club has structures in place for those who wish to achieve elite sporting excellence and for those who wish to take part on a purely recreational level.  Its aim is that all and any who wish to take part in the sport of rowing, at whatever level be encouraged and made welcome.  Our efforts are supported by a strong rowing school parents support group which draws and encourages the support of our member’s families into the sport in a number of ways, coaching, regatta officials, committee members, fundraising events, etc.

A very well equipped club. The team.on the day gladly showed us around and told us about the history of rowing in Whanganui and NZ.

Good jettys to jump off when swimming in the river and there are steps that lead right into the water. The rowers however don't like to share and can be very arrogant and rude towards the members of the public.
