★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The cemetery provides for burials and ash interments. There are separate areas for returned services personnel and children under 9 years. There is also a remembrance book administered by Paterson's Funeral Services Ltd. and a memorial garden for past stillborn children.
The Ashburton Cemetery also includes the historic sexton's building. The building is an eight-sided building with two long sides. It was restored in 1994 by the Pakake Lions Club and officially opened by Prime Minister and MP for Rakaia the Rt Hon Mrs. Jenny Shipley on 8 April 1998.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Ashburton Cemetery is large and not only includes older burials/interments, it also includes areas for current burials/interments.
Records show that the first interments were in 1879. Interestingly, and sadly, the first two interment were from the same family; June 1879 child aged 2 and July 1879 child aged 4.
It's always nice to see when cemeteries are well-maintained and this one is. The Saxton's building is in the middle which is open and provides information. Also on site are some public toilets - which come in handy as the cemetery is located just outside of town.
