★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's okay. Great for an enjoyable day at the trots but lacking a bit in facilities like enough parking, food options, quality viewing spots, etc.
Yes, I know updating costs money but one has to spend it to make it.
But as I said, it still makes for a good place if you want to watch horse racing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My friend and I had a day at the races planned in advance, so we travelled down from CHCH for the Ashburton Races, and what a great time we had. We made some good money, enjoyed the company of others, and found the staff to be happy nice people, we all like to deal with happy and nice people, it makes us feel good ourselves, kudos to Ashburton people. It's a good racetrack, and there were some very good quality races, such a great day.

A large group of us enjoyed the day imbibing on drinks and food at various places.
The fact that our syndicates horse won the last race just topped it off.
