★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Appalled and embarrassed to say this is our council...they seem to forget they work for the ratepayers and are public servants. They’re currently trying to charge us $11k for council consent on a minor dwelling... apparently all the additional costs are due to the so called Senior Planner needing to consult with her manager, so we’re not too sure what makes her senior if she’s required to get input from a manager, and thus charge us more money to do so. It also took them half a year to grant the consent, and 2 months after doing so they’re now trying to charge for all this additional work they supposedly had to do. If only they spent the same amount of time doing their actual job rather than trying to find ways to charge citizens more, they might actually be half decent as a council. This council should really be called Auckland circus.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am absolutely unsure why this huge Auckland Council set up is even existing. Remove them totally - and I am sure Auckland will work better without confusion - plus a huge amount of tax payers and rate payers money will be saved. All that this council does is have big offices to house their elite bosses and fund their existence by collecting ever increasing rates bill from residents. Do they actually do any meaningful work at all to improve the day to day, and ever increasing miseries of Aucklanders? Don't think they are even bothered about that. Why work when you can get your pay by sitting and doing nothing productive?
How to become an ambassador in a good country, or go to UN (as a retirement benefit from the Labour government) must be the current boss's sole aim (after having chosen not to contest anymore) - even after achieving next to nothing as the head of this setup for two terms.
Amazing setup ...... even a one star rating is too much for Auckland Council ..... Google should have option for negative ratings too as this organisation needs a negative rating for sure

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Why don’t you care about, or record, the number of established trees being cut down in Auckland? Incompetent lack of foresite.
The Auckland Council’s lack of progress on climate change is disgusting and frightening.
Other councils have great initiatives where you pay less rates depending on how many established trees you have on a property. Meanwhile in Auckland, Development is king. Even thought it’s pointless if it kills our environment.
