About Awa Nursery
Awa Nursery is a family owned and operated business in Waimauku, North West of Auckland. We employ a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable team who are always available to assist with any enquiries.
The Nursery evolved initially from a personal need to be able to purchase a selection of good quality specimen trees from one location. Also the desire to buy every plant that was presented for display without having a ‘Not For Sale’ sign on the very plant that we may have wanted to buy. We would often be informed that these such plants were only used for demonstration purposes.
Awa Nursery is a working nursery open to the public, including landscapers and developers 7 days a week from 8.30am to 5pm. We grow 85% of what we sell which enables us to offer the best quality plants for sale at the very best prices all inclusive of GST.

As someone that doesn't know much about plants I was hoping for some guidance, however the staff did not want to provide this and were rude when asked questions. wouldn't recommend unless you already know everything you need to know about plants. Ended up buying plants for my garden elsewhere.

β β β β β Firstly, the selection is wonderful, the plants are healthy and the prices are ideal, so that works well. But the customer service was a bit strange. I was looking for a plant and asked where it was and was sort of met with a bit of a snooty reply from two of the women there. I also called and made a phone order and heard nothing back, so I guess they were busy. Iβm a bit of a seasoned gardener so the place does the job for me and I donβt need much advice, but for anyone who needs a bit more attention and specialised customer service, probably not the place to come. Definitely will spend a lot more money here however.

β β β β β A beautiful, large nursery centre with a range of various different plants and trees. I had visited many other nurseries to which I was turned away as I was a member of public, and not a contractor or retailor - however I was allowed to buy at Awa Nursery.
I was looking between 40-50 of the same plant, and all the other garden centres only stocked a few at a time. Awa nursery has the benefits of affordable nursery prices, that also sells to members of the public such as myself. I was able to choose from a variety of different types of plants, and they had sufficient stock. The website was also very good it had lots of information about each plant they sell.
To the bad reviews pointing to bad customer service - my advice is, is that if you need someone to hold your hand throughout the entire process, and do all the thinking for you, then go to a chain garden centre.
I'm a plant novis, and everytime I saw something that caught my eye I'd google the species and find out more about it. There is also a label on every plant that states its purpose, the length and width to which it will grow, and also growing instructions. I'm not sure what else you will want - but Google can help.
Overall the customer service was brilliant and more than what I expected. They even helped load the plants into the car which was kind of them. I will definitely be back when I'm ready to tackle further landscaping projects.
