★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The menu looks extensive. I just ordered a couple of plain pieces of fish and chips. They don't do half scoops so the seagulls got plenty for lunch. The wait time was quite long. The fish tasted old and dry and so were the chips. Not sure what oil they use but I didn't enjoy them at all :-( I want crisp and fresh please!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 5 dollars of soggy chips just enough to feed two people,batter on the cod wasnt that flash either,topped off by a charge of 1.20$ to use the EFTPOS.
A very average over 30$ meal for two people.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited this disgusting fish and chip shop in Riverton, the Riviera of the South.
How this operates I have no idea. The facility was not clean, the $8 blue cod was not blue cod but either Rig or Elephant fish (which is great fish usually) that looked yellow, and probably pre frozen battered. I also purchased a pineapple ring which had no sweetness and was limp and had a taste of old batter! The whitebait pattie I ordered was a perfect circle like a potato cake deep fried with half a whitebait in it. Chips looked like a limp soggy I wont say what. I rang them to convey my disappointment and disgust with my $38 meal,and was advised the whitebait patties come in from India, and the server should have advised us when we ordered this. He said mistakes can happen with fish!!
I took the parcel of fish and chips back showed them the meal and was advised "I'm not the owner I just work here".
Riverton is a stunning location to visit, lovely people and wonderful sights. Situated on the seafood bowl of NZ and this sort of rubbish is served to tourists. The leaders of this community should be really looking at these reviews, I advise you drive to Invercargill to get your fish and chips.
The only positive thing was he gave my money back.

Don't charge the high price for fish that's not fresh its a rip off and tastes really fishy the batter was not crunchy but chewy.
Won't be back

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Got 2 pieces of fish it was disgusting, dry no flavour and tiny looked like a chicken tender. 2 hotdogs were ok and $3.00 chips they were like cardboard we gave them to the next door neighbours sheep, want be back again they need to read the reviews , this shop should be booming but having food like that is is doing it no favours

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I wish we had taken photos of the food, it was awful. $26 of soggy greasy grey fish. Seems a bit harsh, but in a seaside town at a fishmongers fish and chip shop we expected a lot better.
I'd bet the fish is pre battered AND cooked, then defrosted and cooked again.
Want good cod? - try the pub over the road (Carriers Arms).
