About UsWe began to farm emus in 1996. We started off with a few pairs then ended up with a couple of hundred. We sold meat in our shop and it was just about to be introduced into a local supermarket as a trial. Unfortunately the government changed the processing regulations and the small killing and processing plant we were using was unable to afford the cost of upgrading to the new standards so we had nowhere to send our birds any more. Now we keep a few for education purposes (and of course they are our pets)!! Emu meat is similar to venison, a red meat low in fat and quite a healthy meat to eat. It's taste could be described as a cross between a good fillet steak and venison.Every part of an emu can be used from the meat, to the feathers for Maori cloaks, the claws for jewellery, the bones for carving, the hides for high class leather clothing and accessories and of course the eggs can be carved - or eaten. (They do take around an hour and a half to boil however and need rather large 'soldiers' to dip into them)!!!!!! The moa family exhibit in Te Papa are constructed from Bluebank emus. Our birds love visitors and will gladly eat any bread you may care to bring for them. They will also eat your ice block complete with stick if you get too close !

Such a lovely, tranquil spot. Enjoyed a picnic with Blueberry ice cream as desert. Great place to bring the kids, pick fruit and take some home!

It is the best place to enjoy your weekend. There are Emus, Buleberries, organic ice cream and gifts such as blueberry recipes book, New Zealand pottery, blueberry fudge and so on. Especially, you can have pure blueberry ice-bar which make you frozen. :)

Enjoyed picking blueberries at this farm though the berries are quite tiny. There are alpacas, emu, geese and some sheep at the farm too. Can spend a couple of hours at this farm.

A must place to visit. I love it so do my family. We all had a great time feeding and taking pictures with Alpacas first then went to pick the blueberries right next to Alpacas farm. A great experience and recommended to all.
