★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Close to central Auckland, but a beautiful reserve with good picnic benches overlooking the inlet. You can sit on the grass and watch wind-surfers, walk your dog, fish or (when the tide is low) walk to the next little beach.
And if you have kids, there is a great playground (and nearby toilet) on the way down to the water.
These little beaches make you really appreciate Auckland
