About Braemar Hospital
In August 2005 an agreement was reached with The Salvation Army to purchase ‘The Nest’ site on the corner of Ohaupo Road and Kahikatea Drive.
The land and buildings at Tainui Street were sold to the Cancer Society in 2007 and leased back from the society until the new hospital at Ohaupo Road was ready for occupation.
The new hospital opened to patients on 14 April 2009 and was officially opened on 8 August 2009 by Mrs Mary Clarkson.
The Braemar Day Hospital on Knox Street merged with the main hospital on Ohaupo Road and the new extension was officially opened by David and John Young (sons of Braemar founder) on 28 September 2012.
In 2019 a purpose built theatre for cardiac and spinal surgery was added along with an education room and additional storage. This extension was officially opened by Bob Armstrong (MNZM, JP) and Barry Prior (MNZM, JP) on 3 May 2019. Both are past trustees of the Braemar Charitable Trust.

It was my first hospital visit and I had ankle/foot surgery that took just under 5 hours. All the staff were polite and friendly. My surgeon was Dr Jason Donovan he made sure that I was doing alright after surgery. My anesthetist was Jeff he also made sure that I was feeling good after surgery. The food was better than I thought it would be and always arrived hot enough to eat, always got delivered on time. I can only remember one of the nurses name that looked after me but the nurse Donna was always so polite to me and she always apologized for waking me up so I could take my medication. Reception staff welcomed me straight away and showed me where my room was straight away too. Hospital was keep clean and tidy.
Thank you Braemar Hospital I enjoy my time there I will definitely recommend this hospital to anyone.

They were both very attentive with my needs and checked in on me to make sure I was comfortable. I kept forgetting to take my pain releif because I kept falling asleep but they would wake me up specifically so that I don't wake up sore. Much appreciated ladies, thank you

Special thanks to Anne and Rose Bay for making our son very confy after the colonoscopy procedure. My husband and I really appreciate your help and support for our son when he was there for his 1 day surgery. ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went in for a moderate surgical procedure requiring 2 surgeons. All hospital and surgical staff looked after me wonderfully. Including checking up on me for the fall I had on my way in across the carpark. Meals were very nice and of good size. Plenty to drink including hot drinks. Thank you to all the staff and the surgeons and anaesthetist.
