★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is wonderful viewing spot to sit all cosy in the car while wild waves whip the shore, jagged rocks stand their ground, ferries set on their couse through the channel into Whanganui a tara, and the beautiful Palliser peninsular stretches out beyond the channel immovable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice dive on a good day. Sheltered from the north. Narrow subsurface channels and a small swim through. Horrible walk over rough rocks to get to the sea but once there worth it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A perfect spot to view the east coast of Wellington. Not far away from the car park you can see an arch hole on your left; when you are looking far towards the sea you may see Baring Head Lighthouse. It’s a Lighthouse located in back country.

A fun spot for people watching (it's one of those beaches that attracts the interesting types).
Cool clear water for a summer dip.
