★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a picturesque English style provincial town on the mighty Waikato River. A clock tower chimes out in the heart of the town, and a majestic historic narrow arch bridge spans the river. Great selection of cafes and restaurants line the central area. Oak trees circle the Victoria Park with its cricket pavilion. The Good Union pub and restaurant serves great food and Good George craft beer. There is a hidden lake to the north of the Lakewood commercial center ringed with a walking track. Go see it!
