β β β β β I wish I could rate this Lodge higher. I am speechless every time I think about or try to tell others of this amazing place. The staff are exceptional, all generous of their time whether they are volunteers or paid. They all help with heartfelt care to their clients. I also have to acknowledge the premises built especially for Cancer patients and their support carers by the Lions club. Just wonderful :)

β β β β β The Cancer Society Lions Lodge provides an essential service for cancer patients who live some distance away from Hamilton, and are receiving cancer treatment at Waikato Hospital. People need to be referred by the Oncology Department. Support people are also welcomed. It's a very relaxing place: wonderful staff, good meals, clean rooms with en suites. Close to Hamilton Lake, which has a wonderful walking path all around it. A shuttle service is available to take patients to their treatments at the hospital.

β β β β β An anonymous post to be able to review of the good and not so good experience of the Lodge.
Firsty the staff are warm friendly and happy to help as much as they can so I have not 1 bad review of them and there efforts!
Unfortunately after a recently experienced 5 week stay I'm so glad I'm home and don't have to endure the experience of a place that serves flavor free slop that is always cold ,and if it's not flavor free it's to spicy especially when having radiation therapy involving the face and throat. And having no facility like a microwave to heat anything after the kitchen is closed was just annoying .
Being woken up every morning with doors that are well overdue for a bit of an oil to prevent rather loud screeching, especially when you are up and down all night I'll from daily treatments including chemotherapy.
Even though I mentioned all of this quite a few times, nothing changed
though there efforts to keep people safe during COVID-19 are understandable they are way out of wack with what happening as soon as you step out of the Lodge.
I found myself eating away from the lodge on most occasions just to have a decent hot meal only to be told 3 days before I left there was a facility to cook for myself.
And when you're sleeping during the early evening to actually get some sleep here there is nothing worse than being woken up by the obnoxious cow bell clanging around the lodge for 5 minutes.
I'm sorry for the blunt honest review but this place needs a major shakeup , as much as it's appreciated and I was thankful for the place to stay when away from home, I hope that they sort it out so it's completely a Plesent place to be when dealing with treatment.
