★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been training at Carlson Gracie New Zealand Queenstown for almost two years now, and I couldn't have felt more welcomed into the community of Jiu Jitsu. Although my partner has been training there for the past 10 years, I had to find my own grounds and feel comfortable in an environment I was unfamiliar with. I started with the Fundamentals Course learning to get the hang of the simple and basic movements in the sport and eventually graduating out of that program and into the beginners classes. This transition was extremely important to my development and I would highly recommend taking the course if this is the first time starting BJJ. Jose with his good spirit, kindness, and patience helped to advance my Jiu Jitsu from the very beginning. Whenever I had a question to be asked he is always willing to answer, and if he can't answer during the class he will make sure to speak with you after the session is over to explain. All the staff are friendly and have their own specialties within the sport which makes this academy a very special second home. From those who are there to train daily, to those who are just passing through Queenstown, the academy is a welcoming place to everyone. Respect the dojo, be humble on the mats, and always keep learning. OSS. Thank you Jose, Renan, Fabio, Caique, Ash, Jordan, Gil, Lloyd, & Emi. We see you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An amazing gym with a top quality instructors and training partners. I would recommend open mat on Sunday to anyone passing through the area. Everyone is super welcoming and happy to meet new people. I will miss training with Jose, Fabio, and the rest of the team there and will be back there to train the next time I am in the area. Thank you!!!

Professional, but never pretentious, this the academy to go to if you want to learn, challenge yourself and always have fun doing it!

We travelled from Melbourne to Queenstown for a holiday and after a week our kids wanted to practice Bjj.
I looked up the Carlson Gracie Bjj and asked if our kids could join a class, however no children's classes were scheduled over the school holidays. Emi and Brian asked for our contact details and within 1 hour they had organized an open mat for our kids to join the next day, with the blessing of the head Coach's
Today we turned up to the class and everyone was so welcoming. The kids had a brilliant time - lots of laughter and then some serious work.
Our kids are competent kids in the sport and they were tested. Special thanks to Jose', Fabio, Emi and Brian and the kids that participated in the class. You were all very generous and we have fond memories of our NZ BJJ experience! Thank you !!
Hopefully we can return the favors.

Always a fantastic club to train at and all the coaches & members have been very friendly and inviting.
