What is NCEA?

New Zealand’s National Certificates of Educational Achievement (NCEA) are national qualifications for senior secondary school students. It enables students to gain credits from both traditional school curriculum areas and alternative programmes. NCEA and other national certificates are recognised by employers and used as the benchmark for selection by universities and polytechnics. NCEA is also readily accepted overseas, including by universities. When applying for employment, prospective employees can create a summary of their results from their Record of Achievement. Employers need to understand the secondary qualifications system in New Zealand, in order to understand the information that prospective employees present them with. For more information, see NCEA in business.  Since its introduction in 2002, the NCEA qualification system has progressively been improved through a number of initiatives.

NCEA Guide: Mobile App

There is an app for mobile phones, tablets etc. to help parents and employers better understand NCEA.

This school has made me cry so many times. The students and teachers were the reason I hated school. Made me feel like rubbish and useless. Very toxic environment.

Overall it's a decent school but I do have a few bones to pick. Options and opportunities are pretty limited (no spanish or dance, for example). This is probably because it's a small school relative to others. The school doesn't cater well to gifted students (no extension classes or streaming). And lastly, nothing will make you atheist faster than attending a religious school. - A former student

This school cares more about your hair color than your mental health.

The teachers think a solution to the vaping issue is to lockdown all of the toilets. News flash this is not working! Not fair to lock the toilets for students who don't vape and make the toilets' inaccessible. Teachers are not welcoming and are very scary especially the leadership team. The deans take the wrong sides in situations and wrongly accuse innocent students. This school needs to make some changes urgently for the sake of their own students. They put too much academic pressure on there students and it is very overwhelming. The short hand in dates are not benefiting students mental health. When I attended this school I often found myself cancelling events and not turning up to sports games just so I can hand in assessments. It is not fair when other students from other schools get 1 month and can work on the internal at home when we got 1 week and could only work on it in class time. The academic pressure is seriously effecting students and the pulse app does not work!

I have had a child who attended this school. Initially it was great but once she begun NCEA we could see the stress the teachers put on their students. Many are passive aggressive especially to students who do not achieve Excellence in their assessments. I have been told of many stories in which students physical and mental health is ignored and has pressured them into doing work when they are not healthy enough to do it or leave them with a Not Achieve on their record. They make many excuses for this but as someone who has seen people experience it first hand these excuses are disgusting. This is not accurate for all teachers but for many and it is disappointing. I believe it can be a good school but at the moment and in the past with the way they are treat their students a change needs to happen.

School is not very merciful considering that is one of it's values. I hated my time at this school and the teachers are so rude. Basically all of the students vape - this is a big problem and it has not been fixed to this date. Overall just a bad learning environment and has a 'negative' energy. would give zero stars if I could. Avoid at all costs....

I honestly wish I could give zero stars. This place is rubbish. Go to Pinehurst. Even Kristin is better than this dump.
