★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Castle Point is one of the best scenery tracks near Wellington. The Roadtrip to there from Wellington is amazing! You can find seals in there depending on the season. Usually you'll not find so many people there, so good place if you don't like to be with the crowd. Don't miss the track opposite to the Castel!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wind has been strong enough to blow sand from the beach into my face. With patience have crawled and climbed the cliffs below the lighthouse. Have seen seals on the reef at the opposite end of the lighthouse. Walking along the beach is the fastest way to reach the start of the hike up to Castle Rock for great views of the whole lagoon. The lagoon is a good place to surf. Fishing spot for gurnard and red cod.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is an amazing hike. It is not a DOC trial so it is not maintained and can be hazardous. The winds are high at the top, but it is an absolutely amazing view. If you have the strength for the climb and no afraid of heights its a must do.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great views over the beach. Not easy to get to the top, very windy and must be extremely slippery when wet. But it is definitely worth the effort. Nice loop walk starting from the car park where you can spend the night if in self contained vehicle. Also nice walk to the lighthouse. It was quiet during winter but must be really busy over summer.
