Should pay $5 per person. It's not very bad. Should go there at low tide.

Worth the $5 road toll, despite the narrow, bumpy condition of the road. Steep walk up and down the hill, so it's definitely not suited to young young children or elderly, but the caves were incredibly impressive. I had the pleasure of a German lady singing in the middle where the two caves joined, the echo was quite haunting, but very beautiful.

A definite stop on your journey. Great walk down to the caves through some really nice forest. Requires some physical shape, so not easily accessible for the elderly or those with limited mobility. Beach is beautiful and caves are spectacular. Check online for open times.

The parking is a great way for local Maori to making some money for the up keep of the track and area ? It's a long way to see a cave how ever .

I was not even going to mention this place. Prepare to pay $10 per person. The caves are underwhelming. The 199m-long cave is formed from sandstone (about 160 million years old). The other reviewers will give you their insight of the cave. The best part were the views of the beach and the walk down to the beach.

(Jan 2020) I liked the caves, but bc they call it Maori heritage you need to pay a fee and there is not much to see. There is plenty of those caves without a fee. But the lady who was selling the tickets was nice tho!

Plenty of parking space, the lot is well organised and run, it reminds me of parking on the ferry with areas assigned for various vehicle types and sizes. Lovely walk down through native bush to a very attractive beach. The Caves are pretty good to. ?

Amazing experience, best to go when the tide is out that way you can spend more time. It is protected land and the hike to and from shouldn't be walked in jandals but it is definitely a worthwhile walk.
