★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very challenging hike, you look in the visitors book and see people commenting “nice easy walk” etc. and you must think they’re on some drug because the walk (the flood route at least) is far from easy. The hut itself is very comfortable and cozy all double glazed and can sleep 12 people, we got lucky and were the only ones staying there. However it did take the two of us six hours to get there and four hours to get back. The flood route has multiple difficult climbs near vertical and not a lot of markers. You’ll always get wet no matter which route you take, the flood route isn’t on any topo map that I’m aware of. Amazing scenery though and very good trek overall. We didn’t try the normal route due to torrential rain the previous day/ night so that could’ve been easier.
