We live in the city centre with two teenage children and Central Park is one of our favourite places to frequently go to either for a walk around the many well formed and maintained trails, or playing in the playground area on the flying foxes (3 of them side by side). We also enjoy using some of the trails as shortcuts when walking from the city side up to Brooklyn Shops or to the Penthouse Picture Theatre. We would never let the children go on their own though either to the playground or on the trails as for decades there has always been a concern of lurkers in the park who shouldn't be there - unfortunate, but it is a heavily wooded park in the city and its better to be safe than sorry, particularly with some of the incidents in the park that have been reported on in the press in recent years.

A wonderful place to have the sounds of native birds encompassing you as you take tracks to a new view.

This is a great park close to the city walk from upper Willis St. to Brooklyn you need to be reasonably fit if you do the walk, very peaceful with lots of birds and there is a play area by the tennis Centre.

Tracks are in need of maintenance. Very slippery in wet areas. A bit of wet n forget would not go amiss either. Other than that it is a great park with native bush and cool little bridges.

It’s hard to believe that we have a park in the middle of Wellington as green and full of birdsong as this. Sitting here on a Sunday morning the cicadas singing was a wonderful experience. There are some things to be cautious of in the park.

The play area was ok, i thought it would have had more equipment, and more up to date equipment. The mound where the bike track was is a mess. Bit disappointing really. The flying fox was the best. Walking tracks are nice. Wouldn't bother taking children to the play area again.

Lots of places to explore and a helpful shortcut between the southern inner suburbs. The best part is probably the playground, which is suitable for younger kids and also has the flying foxes for the older kids. My favourite aspect is the phenomenal colours to be found.
