About CHB Municipal Theatre
In December of that year it was resolved that a poll of ratepayers be taken on the question to raise a special loan for rebuilding a portion of the Town Hall, adding a public library and Borough Council offices and chamber to the building. This was done and in January 1909 the Mayor arranged with W A Chambers of Waipukurau to a ground plan of proposed additions to the Hall. In April tenders were called for the rebuilding; five received with William Robertshaw's tender being the lowest at 1997.00 pounds. All the timber used in the rebuilding project was milled at Carson's Mill in the Wakararas. Included in the timber was 1000 super feet of heart Matai tongue and grove flooring. It is also re-called that the principal rafters were assembled one at a time on the ground then hoisted into position with the aid of a pole and a horse named Topsy.

β β β β β My daughter & 2 granddaughters went and saw Mamma Mia ? It was fantastic. Very well done and si colourful. The lead girl was greatly, with such an amazing voice.
The theatre its self is small and not well designed. We were upstairs and sat one row back from the balcony on the side and didn't have full view if the stage, so we had to stand to see everything at times. Other than that the actual production was tops ????

β β β β β It has a good feel about it well set out with good facilities. Has an old fashioned charm. The only thing is about the function I went to it was very cold in the main area. There doesn't seem to be any heating system but a heat blower was put on towards the end when everyone was freezing so a bit late.

β β β β β As someone who has been in quite a few shows, that casting in incredibly biased. Of you aren't in their little clique, you won't get a part. The have a group of people who get their names all throughout the casting credits for doing almost nothing, and the director literally casted all the children to the back while we took bows, so you couldn't even see them, while all the adults crowded the front. This is how it went throughout the whole show.
I've been told if you are quiet, or an introvert, you won't be confident on stage. That is not true. I have so many awful things to say.
