★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely period villa but with all the modern conveniences. Not too far from the centre. Good wifi. You might want to bring your Chromecast if you're staying a few days.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Situated on one of Whanganui's main streets, a few blocks from the Dublin Street Bridge and Somme Parade, this lovely old villa has been modernised inside without losing its original charm. The kitchen is fabulously equipped with everything we needed for self-catering; the bathrooms (main and ensuite) and laundry are lush and spotlessly clean, the bedrooms have every luxury and the lounge is furnished with period armchairs and sofa. Throughout the house and in the kitchen there's an eclectic mix of artwork, chinaware and furnishings, from retro to repro via art deco and modernist: something for every taste, but it works! We'll definitely stay here again, when the cherry trees are in blossom, to enjoy the verandahs and small but perfect garden. Close enough to main attractions, but not in the city centre, a perfect location to make day trips from. Highly recommended.
