The Beginning of City Hire Centre
City Hire Centre is Napier's only locally owned Hire Centre and we have grown with the city. The company was bought by Frank Tickner in 1973. A small building down the road from the Hyderabad Road premises was the first Hire Centre in Napier. Frank with a background in farming and tractor driving could fix anything, and saw a market for Hire Equipment.
He amassed over the years many unusual pieces of equipment, from floor jacks, fertiliser spreaders to large diggers.Today we still have an extensive range for hire. "We've got it all" was his catch phrase.
Frank's son John returned home from South Africa in 1987 and joined the family business.
24/7 is how we differentiate ourselves from the competition. All equipment that leaves the yard had John's personal guarantee. Should there be any problems we will deliver a replacement piece of equipment immediately.
When back from hire every piece of equipment is thoroughly inspected and serviced ready to go on hire again.
The measure of success for City Hire is customer satisfaction, employees who have been with us for many years, and doing what we do best- Hiring Equipment. Our Manager Keith knows all our customers by name, and can always recommend the right tool for the job.
City Hire Centre is involved in most Hawkes Bay events. We provide Generators, Lighting Towers etc and even a fleet of small tractors to ferry concert-goers back and forth to The Mission.
