Chemical practises are used so they no longer offer tours even though it's still advertised. I was notified by the staff who seemed unsupportive of this. Sadly, I sense their struggle to stay competitive in a market of large intl.export companies. Nice rugs, neat factory-a-could be trendy spot in the middle of town.

Had some Tahr skins tanned through these guys..... we took 4 or 5 in and they ruined the lot, worst job of a Tahr skin Iv ever seen. From what I can tell the skins weren't stretched after tanning and ended up a wrinkled mess. Pretty disheartening after all the effort that we put in. Definatly wound not reccomend

This was a fun stop near wine country. The selection isn't massive, but I guess there are only so many things most people want to buy made in a style that accents the sheepskin, which is what this place sells. They basically have a couple of styles of boots, and those run the range of sizes. They have gloves and mats and hats. They also sell a small selection of non-sheep New Zealand products, like socks and honey-derived cosmetics. The stuff seems well made, although the weather hasn't allowed me to try out the boots I bought, so I can't be sure. The sole isn't very sturdy or grippy; I asked and they said they didn't do higher boots with a sturdier sole--I got the sense that people weren't willing to pay for both, but rather only one of either height or sturdy sole. The prices were fine, probably about average for such products, although with the exchange rate, it was a good time to buy them and change from U.S. dollars. They only do a couple of tours a day, I'd call and check, but I went first thing in the morning, and didn't end up getting to do a tour because I had other things to do that day, and couldn't hang around waiting. They have plenty of parking in the lot next to the store.

Just collected my deer skin I sent in for tanning. At the time (Aug2017) they advertised custom tanning on their website. At this time I was told 8-10 weeks for completion. After waiting until mid Feb2018, getting a number of delay excuses, I collected my half complete hide. My hide had been tanned but not completed to an exceptable β€œtanned” state that was expected, it was returned stiff and hard, and will require hours of continued working to make it satisfactory. I should have saved my $100, and done it myself. Thankfully they have stopped this service, this way no one else will be disappointed as I am. It’s clear to me that β€œcustomer satisfaction” & β€œquality” do not feature in this companies mission or values statement. If it does, they need to be removed.

Extremely happy with the service & product. I called in 5mths previously & regretted driving away without purchasing a pair of black seat covers for the car. We planned another road trip up north from the south island & rung prior to be told that they had no black ones in stock, but mentioned I'd call in anyway. We done just that, placed an order & was very impressed by being rung the very next day & informed they were ready to be picked up. Napier is my home town & classic sheepskins have been there forever, & whole heartedly recommend you call in & buy what they have to offer. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
