Welcome to Cockle Bay School

My name is Dorothy Bigwood and I am delighted to be the principal here. Cockle Bay School is a high performing school with a very clear sense of direction and community culture.

Our school's continual focus is on quality teaching and learning within a caring environment. We have children and their learning at the heart of all that we do. All our staff and our students consistently express what we value as the 4 C’s. We value continuous improvement in learning; collaboration; caring for ourselves, others and the environment; and celebration of our successes.

An all-round rich curriculum is offered and  we promote high standards and expectations. Particular emphasis is placed on literacy, numeracy, science and technology as well as the strategies of learning. We want our children to become critical and creative thinkers and future-focused learners who increasingly take responsibility for their own learning.

Our hope is that by working together as parents and teachers in a partnership, we will ensure that your child has the best opportunity to succeed with their learning and personal development.

We are on a well established site, close to the coast in East Auckland. The school is well resourced, both in terms of facilities and equipment and with high calibre staff and Board of Trustee members. There is a strong spirit of community with supportive parents and students who arrive at school ready to learn. Our students are happy and enthusiastic, and staff find Cockle Bay School a happy place to work.
