★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a very positive experience with Comer Firewood and I would highly recommend their products and service. I ordered a gift load of 2m3 hot mix firewood and 2 bags kindling to a friends place whom I stayed with for 3 weeks while I was working in Auckland( I live in Wellington) I asked them to contact my friend to organise a time and area for the drop off of firewood. All of which happened as requested. My friends were really impressed by the quality of firewood so, again thank you Comer! Top job and great communication. Cheers!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordered 4 m3 but was disappointed by integrity, uniformity and dryness of wood so I posted a one star review. However Comer called me very quickly and they have offered to come a view the wood and replace the proportion that is substandard- so thanks for the acknowledgement and fair offer- We did have a very good delivery in our last order 3 years ago.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In March 2019 we ordered 3m3 of gum & 6m3 of hot mix thinking that we’d end up with a 50/50 mix of gum and softwood overall within the 9m2 order.
While the gum order was fine, the hot mix only had at best 10% gum, so overall we’ve ended up with 3.6m2 of gum out of 9m2 - well down on our expectations.
Additionally the blocks of wood were split very small and burnt very fast. Consequently our 9m2 load won’t last the winter and we’ve had to buy more from another company.
While on the plus side Come’s wood has very dry, overall it’s been a disappointing experience for a $1,335 order.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Moisture issues. Collected some wood after 3 days of sunshine but after a further 3 days indoors, wood still won't burn properly.
The sign said 'dry' firewood so I assumed I didn't need to ask if it was. I'm sure this company would try to rectify the issue but 1m3 has been shifted up 2 flights of stairs now so not much can be done now, it ain't going back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have dealt with comers before and the wood is dry and a great ratio for the hot mix. This time we ordered 3m3 hot mix and a lot of the wood is very damp, and quite a bit of debris with the mix. It's been very hard getting the fire going and we have had our fireplace cleaned out too. But easy to deal with, easy booking process and not too bad communication.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordered a top up of wood for this winter (2 square meters). Majority of the wood (85%) is not dry (and not just rained on wet but properly fresh wet), very hard to burn and lots and lots of debris. We had the same experience 2 winters ago but thought we’d try again as it was fast delivery and no fuss order, however disappointed that this is the result again. We wont be going back again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've used Comer happily for years - just mentioned this year that a (very) few pieces in my previous delivery had been too big to fit my firebox. Comer contacted me promptly, my feedback was well received and this years wood is all the right size and beautifully dry. I recommend Comer Firewood wholeheartedly.
I had another generous load of dry, seasoned gum delivered by Comer yesterday. All just the right size. I feel very well set up for winter now! Thanks again, Nora!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Three cubic meters delivered yesterday. All very dry. Not too much bark and debris. Great. I ordered the hot mix which is a mixture of pine, macrocarpa and gum - gum being the harder, slower burning wood. But at a generous estimate the gum made up less than 10% of the load, which is disappointing. I know because I loaded every piece into and out of the barrow and the difference in weight, if not the colour, makes it obvious which you have in your hand...
On the whole I'm reasonably happy - it's good dry firewood but given the significant difference at which soft and hard wood burns I think we'll be running low by the end of August.
In my experience buying firewood is a bit of a hit and miss process and wherever, and whenever, you buy it a "mix" comes in many different forms. Next year I will mix my own ( as suggested by Comer post complaint...)
UPDATE: Did just that the following year. Bought 2m of gum, 1m of pine. All dry, delivered on time. Easy. Thanks Comer!
