About Comrades

Established in 1990, Comrades has all that would be expected in an Army surplus store plus much more. We have an ever changing range of products such as Camping gear and equipment for the great Outdoors, Parachutes, Badges and Insignia, Wet Weather gear, Flags, Boots, Equipment Vests, and Die-Cast Model weapons. Also to compliment the military surplus we have a huge range of knives and very popular fashion hats, bags, and clothing. We source much of our stock from Europe were many countries had or still have military conscription. This means vast arrays of warehouses full of quality made clothing and equipment to supply a constant stream of new recruits. When either this equipment becomes obsolete or is otherwise not needed it is released on to the market and that’s where we come in.When you buy from Comrades you are re-cycling, re-purposing and buying products that were made to last and be fit for purpose-we are the opposite of fast fashion!

Terrible customer service the older guy in there reeked of alcohol probably from the night before. Very rude and appeared to be either withdrawing from alcohol or whatever it maybe. Reflected poorly on the store extremely disappointing visit. I would never set foot in there again. Disgraceful!

The Spanish guy working there was amazing, he felt like a friend and not a salesperson. It was a great experience, I bought a M1 Helmet and a M24 Stielhandgranate, along with a Royal Signals Corps badge which a relative of mine served in

For many years this has been Wellington’s best store for surplus clothing and military gear. Some of the below reviews regarding customer service are unfair in my view - I have always found the staff in this store to be friendly and helpful. This place is a must visit for any military enthusiast.

Haven't visited but got great service online. Item was smashing, service polite and prompt and the shipping was done post-haste. Top operation, worth full five stars!

These guys were awesome in helping me organise items to be used for a show I worked on as a costume designer. Their knowledge and expertise in the gear was thorough and I felt reassured that what I was getting was right for it's purpose. I can't thank you enough for your support and generosity!!!

THE BEST ARMY SURPLUS (in my opinion) I can remember purchasing items here back in my early teens. I regularly purchase from Comrades online. Customer service is always exceptional. Delivery is lightning fast. Items turn up usually within 24 hours and courier for a huge box of bulky items is typically $8.50! Maybe a third of the price I might expect to pay for courier from some similar shops. For those complaining about a grumpy shopkeeper, just buy online - it's cheap as chips. However, I have found Comrades a pleasure to buy from and their service is among the best I have received ever. Prices are very reasonable overall and and seem to be substantially less on the whole for items than those I purchased from their competition such as Army and Outdoors. In addition, they seem to last long enough in stock that you can purchase some. I purchased durable quality products (some brand new) such as beautiful Italian Merino T shirts at a small fraction of the price I would have paid for (often cheaply made rubbish) at a standard outdoors shop. The range of items while not the best, is certainly very respectable. They are especially good for rare and hard to find items, and I have seen a number of items here I have not seen for sale anywhere else. I also like that this army surplus shop is not over-run with crusty replica stuff like many other army surplus shops seem to be. Many have little/no genuine surplus items. I think Comrades is massively underrated/underappreciated and I am frequently shocked to find cheap and hard to find items. I doubt this will last forever, so buy up while you can! Recommended!
