About Continental Stairs
John and Ria van Erp started out building staircases from a shed at the family farm in Taupaki. Back then, John’s philosophy was simple: “To get it right first time, every time.”
Today, Continental Stairs is one of largest providers of stairs in New Zealand, producing over 300 staircases every month, as well as handrails and balustrades from our purpose-built factory in Henderson.
We’re still a family-owned business. And while our premises may have changed and our team may have grown, our commitment to quality remains the same as it was in 1982.
We strive to get it right first time by working closely with you to ensure you receive the staircase you want for your home.
Our team includes experienced stairmakers and joiners who can craft any size or style of staircase you want – from classic Victorian to modern floating.
You may only have a general idea of what you want. Not a problem. We’re happy to advise and provide designs that will bring your ideas to life.
It’s all part of a complete service that includes design, measure, build and installation

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hired Continental Stairs November 2020, paid deposit as per their request, mid January after calling and emailing many times (the excuse was holidays, fair enough, I thought at the time), paid the balance as per their request, today is 3rd of March, stairs paid in full mid January, many promises of dates, deliveries, installation and I am still waiting. Do no recommend this company, first time and never again.
