★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Most poorly run Countdown I have been to, ever! Was there on Sunday night, shelves were half empty (they have a really narrow range of products also, don't be fooled to thinking they have more range even though a big store), one lane for check out open so long que while 5 staff doing nothing next to it, self service check out was awful to use, staff not all that helpful. The whole experience going there has always been poor but last night confirmed to never return. I would have expected with a new business they would be going the extra mile to make sure customers have a good experience, but it is definitely the opposite.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sadly not a good day today all was going well as per usual till I get to the checkout and the checkout operator was not a happy camper she begrudgingly packed my bags rather haphazardly there was no smile or a friendly hello how's your day going or something like that very disappointing. It's the first time I've had such a bad experience at the checkout. I thought about reporting her but thought better of it as there may have been a reason for her behavior and I left it at that.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Terrible store. Very small and not stocked well. I can never find everything I need and always end up having to go to a second store to finish my groceries. Not worth it.
I don't understand why staff filling online orders don't get their products from the back rather than directly instore. There was one time I was waiting behind an employee picking several orders at once and she took all the pasta packets that I needed. When my turn came the shelf was empty!
Also it's a brand new store but some fridge handles have been broken for months and it doesn't seem like they're getting fixed or replaced.
And finally checkouts are really hit or miss. Sometimes they put my groceries back in the cart for me and sometimes they just shove everything at the end and I have to put everything back in the cart myself. Don't understand the inconsistency.
I won't be going back and will give Countdown Stoke a go to see if it's better.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As a new flagship store, it was good to see plenty of intelligent design, cool storage with light, easy to open doors to save energy and redesigned trollies that take less energy to make, although they are slightly smaller in capacity, so less functional. The produce and everything else was well laid out as you would expect. Prices aren't getting cheaper though and there are still plenty more echo-friendly, less plastic options that could be introduced. Since supermarkets are very hard-nosed businesses, further change should be forced on them as the design changes so far benefit the owner in lowering running costs, rather than the consumer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had some great specials. I find their meat too expensive tho. Since writing this i have been back and got some great in store specials..including meat. Parking is great. Well planned out. I just wish they would put handy towels out to wipe trolly handles
