We are Hasan, Flora, Tamara And Rafi
Hasan comes from a big family in Swaida, Syria, where food means getting together and bonding through amazing and unforgettable flavours
Flora comes from a small family in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she learnt the passion for food and the meaning of sharing each plate with her loved ones
Together we shared our knowledge and skills, and we've built this food company that we decided to call Damascus after the capital of Syria, where Hasan learnt about food and middle eastern flavours

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A colleague of mine who works with the Syrian refugee community in Wellington recommended this place to me. I went there with my partner who is from Oman. He thoroughly enjoyed it and said that it was authentic. In his words, the food was "Super! Really super!" We had the shared platter with meat. Too full afterwards for the Lebanese desert but I would like to try that next time.

Second time and i was looking forward for eating this food again!!
All the food was perfect, absolutely delicious !! I would give 5 and more stars for the food however...
The service, is still could improve...We were taken to our table and the waitress drop the menus and left. Same waitress say we couldnt have drinks since the bar was already close... Then another waitress came to take our food order and she said the bar was still open so we could go and get some drinks...
By the end of the dinner, I am not sure what they were doing by the kitchen, but started smoking a lot to the point my eyes were crying.
Still worth it to go and eat though !

First time going to this place and having Sirius food! I am already thinking about going back!
It had a very casual and homey vibe. They offer genuine Syrian flavours, we had a meat sharing plate & and vegetarian one, they both came with a few breads. They had a beautiful colourful presentations and very rich flavour, amazing really.
The only thing I think they could improve a little is the service. They left the dessert menus and all the staff was suddenly gone… now one to take any orders..
* FYI they don’t sell any alcohol drinks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing authentic Syrian restaurant, we are so lucky to have this in Wellington! The vegetarian sharing plate is amazing, such unique flavours and more than enough food for 2 people. The service is great, friendly and welcoming, they seem very happy, like a family. The atmosphere is very casual, it's in the Vogelmorn Bowling Club so it has a lovely community local feel. Highly recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great atmosphere in there with very friendly staff with great service they are also very helpful with any questions you have. The section on the menu is very good. They are super great if you’re a vegetarian and a vegan. They have good selection of beers and wine. But have no whiskey selection ?. But overall it’s great night out. They also have a awesome playing area for kids to play outside. I highly recommend giving the place a try.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a great night at Damascus on Saturday night with friends. It’s so funky and does not feel like a bowling club at all. The only downside for us was that there wasn’t a bar and were told by our neighbour diners that it’s BYO? It was Saturday night at 7.30pm so not sure what happened but it was a fun and yum night nonetheless!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The most fun we had all had dining out for ages. Such an easy and relaxed atmosphere. Food was delicious and plentiful, we had a large group and ordered one of each of the sharing platters- no difficulty in decision making, and when you are with good friends, the best way to go. Wholesome food, friendly staff, not noisy, few easy tunes in the background. I hear the bar is great, unfortunately not open when we were there on Thursday night. BYO though so no issues. Will have to go back again- it would be great to be able to see on the website when the bar is open so we can plan around this.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Phenomenal food! I had to have a quick meal but the service was swift and the food fresh and sooo tasty. Amazing to have access to Syrian food in Wellington! On 6 May my meal cost $17 — $5 for the Mini Manakesh and $12 for the Smoked Beetroot salad. To enjoy this restaurant fully go with others and order lots of platters to share.
