★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I joined DS Team Jiu Jitsu in February this year as a complete beginner by doing the free trial class and decided to sign up after my first session. I was glad to find the the trial class was very approachable as a beginner having never done any other form of Martial art. The teachers at DS Team Jiu Jitsu are world class, They extremely friendly and helpful. There is a fantastic team environment with a strong focus on discipline at the school. I would strongly recommend anybody thinking about doing Jiu Jitsu in Auckland should attend at class at DS Team Jiu Jitsu.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ DS Team Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an amazing school with a great community and world-class teacher. Undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best in NZ.
After finishing a career in professional sport, I was looking for a something to help keep me fit and a community to be a part of. I was fortunate enough to find both those things at DS Team. Douglas takes a genuine interest in his students, whether it is helping students develop their Jiu Jitsu or taking the time to ask how their personal life is, Douglas really makes his students feel apart of the school. This is also true for his partner and manger of the school Patricia.
The school also caters for those more interested in competing in the martial art. Having complete 2 camps at DS Team, I can wholeheartedly say that some of the trainings were as hard as when playing professional sport. However, Douglas makes sure to support his students every step of the process when preparing for a competition.
Overall, I couldn’t recommend DS Team enough !

You could see how much love and effort both Sensei Douglas and Patricia put in developing little ones as confident, disciplined, respectful and loving human beings. They treat every single child as their own! And it feels like coming home, EVERY SINGLE TIME.I cannot recommend this school enough ❤️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Both my boys (7 & 11) train with Douglas, Patricia and the wider DS Trainers. I have full trust in the team and, as a parent, this is of ultimate importance.
Douglas has full control of the safety of every child in the class and instills the need for the kids to listen to him to keep themselves safe from the very start.
Aside from the physical side of the class, the structure and the enormous focus on values is one of the main reasons we decided to send our boys. The teaching of respect and discipline is part of the philosophy of the school and we continue to see both boys take these values into their wider life.
I could go on and on... but it's a Google review so if you've got this far you've got the hint already! :o)
It's a heck yes from me!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sensei Douglas Santos is amazing! I have put 2 of my kids through his school for the last 9 years and we can't say enough good things about Douglas and Patricia. It's been amazing for their confidence, their self esteem and a grounding practice based in self motivation and discipline. Highly recommend it to anyone that is looking to better their kids lives!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome school, where you feel welcomed from day one. Sensei is truly passionate about BJJ and sharing his knowledge with others. He has a fun yet traditional approach to his teaching which is really refreshing. The team is super friendly and the school in general has a great set of values in place.
Students are highly knowledgeable and happy to help. Also great facility, always clean and with proper ventilation. Highly recommend

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was told choosing a jiu jitsu school is a big decision as if you stick with it you could be training there for decades so I wanted to choose the best school in Auckland. With that in mind I’m happy I chose DS Team with Sensei Douglas Santos and Patrícia.
I’ve found the most valuable training at DS team to be emotional and mental training from Jiu Jitsu, much than learning the physical skills and techniques of jiu jitsu. The emotional and mental challenges and takeaways have impacted my life outside jiu jitsu and have helped me put things in perspective, be kind, appreciate the time with my family more and be calm and relaxed in stressful situations.
Although jiu-jitsu can be considered a “single player” sport, you are joining a community and to practice jiu jitsu you need a training partner. I’ve really surprised with how close I feel to everyone at jiu jitsu in just over a year of joining. I think overcoming the daily emotional and physical challenges in jiu jitsu creates the community at DS team that has incredible warmth and positive vibes.
If your reading this I hope you give jiu jitsu a fair try and have your life improved by it like I and everyone else has.
