★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Whilst importers of Bayer Beegate such as Ecrotek have been kept waiting by their suppliers, I must commend Ecrotek for their amazing speed of delivery once the product was available. 36 hours after payment the delivery was on my doorstep., Whilst the delay in availability was not of Ecrotek's making it was a disappointment for beekeepers like myself who intended this product to be a 16 week Winter treatment. That said the strips were fitted the same day and the colonies will get the minimum 9 weeks instead before my other treatment regime is applied. Since fitting the Beegate I have realised that I can leave the strip holder on indefinitely and use it during Summer and Autumn as an entrance reducer by replacing the Beegate strips with 2mm strips' of Perspex drilled with holes which are bigger than the Beegate holes but which can be reduced as necessary by fitting plugs as shown. The plugs you can obtain from any locksmith for nothing as they throw them away, for further details just email me. This year I was experiencing a lot of trouble from wasps and someone at our Bee Club said that wasps dislike going into tunnels other than the one to their nest. I experimented with lengths of hosepipe which proved very effective and I am hoping that my adaptation of the Beegate holder will prove just as effective, making it truly adaptable and a worthwhile investment in the fight against Varroa.
