About Empire Coffee Roasters
In April 2018, the roaster was switched off, the coffee packed, and Empire Coffee Roasters moved across town to occupy its new premises.
Taking over a large space (the size of three stores!) in the heart of Pirimai, Napier, Ethan and Michael opened the doors of the new premises after many long hours turning the blank canvas into an operational space and cafe.
Boasting one of the largest cafe spaces in Hawkes Bay, the doors opened in September 2018, and the coffee began pouring.
Designed as a space to where you could feel relaxed and not rushed, with the idea of being the sort of place you lose hours of your day, the cafe quickly became a buzzing hub in the community. But it was ever complete, with changes and new additions continuing to happen over the next few years, as the cafe grew on its own to become its own identity.
