I just wanted to say how much we enjoy the Rowntree Bacon sold at New World Kerikeri, Northland. It is so nice not to have water in the bacon and the flavour is how we remember good bacon. We have tried for years to find good bacon, please don't change it and keep supplying New World Kerikeri. sincerely Joyce and John Button.

European boxed streaky bacon 250g looked great and tasted nice but shrinkage was to a 1/3 size of uncooked product. Water content way to high. Shame really. I contacted them and they said it was normal so.j won't buy again.

Shame on Farmlands who claim NZ owned since 1994. In mu h smaller writing it admits their bacon is imported from Belgium Holland Poland and almost almost everywhere except Antarctica Denmark and everywhere

I bought a half ham from countdown. It was very dissapointing. Dry as if it had been frozen. It tasted bland as if it hadn't been cured properly, and it wasn't smokey, as if they had used liquid smoke rather than a proper cold smoker. I'm not sure about this as I wrote to them and did not get a reply. Took it back for a refund. Would not buy again update:. Got a refund, and was sent a voucher, so good customer service. But the ham had not been properly smoked, they use liquid smoke. I stick with properly hand made bespoke ham from local butchers with smokehouse's from now on
