Food is excellent and service is just as good. I recommended everything in the menu but my favourite has to be the Eggplant, so good! I will just let my photos do the talking. What are you waiting for? Book a table and try them out :)

It’s one of the more popular eateries on the 3rd floor of Commercial Bay and for good reason. The food is Korean fusion so you can expect good spicy sweet fried chicken which was done well with a good crunch and a good covering of sticky spicy sauce. We also ordered the cold noodle with kimchi which was quite moorish and the noodle was slightly chewy like a potato noodle. The surprise dish was actually the fried lamb with kimchi, loads of flavour and well balanced between the lamb and kimchi. The raw kingfish was also another highlight. Overall nice area and decent food, the prices are a bit high but we are in Commercial Bay..

What we got: - Jason's fried chicken $19 - Venison tartare $28 - Crispy eggplant $22 - Virgin martini $13 The chicken had a heavy coating of thick sweet gochujang sauce but was still super crispy and ended up being the favourite of the table. It was super messy but definitely worth it and we were given a pretty sizeable amount. The crispy eggplant had a really delicious sauce and was super soft on the inside but the crispy batter on the outside maintained its crispness. The venison tartare was also really delicious and definitely not for everyone since it is raw, but it was super exciting to try something new. The venison ended up having a really interesting melty texture and there was no resistance in the chew, it cut super easily. Though I only had a small sip of the virgin martini I thoroughly enjoyed it, and according to my friend who ordered it, it was "a good martini". Definitely a nice restaurant with high quality food and a surprisingly low price for the items we ordered. It also came with complimentary rice chips.

Gochu is suitable for all occasions: date night, food with friends or family, or even impress business partners in a casual setting. Despite the more casual setting, the service is what you would expect from a great restaurant. Servers are attentive and know the menu, including the wine menu, well. The food is where Gochu comes alive. Everything that I have tried at Gochu is great but my highlights are the eggplant and the milk buns. Definitely a must visit in Auckland.

As someone who loves food, I feel missing out for never been to Gochu. I came across it so many times but never really come into realisation to give it a go. Finally the time has arrived, the weekend before Christmas I gave it a go. We had an early lunch so it is still relatively quit. I found the ambient is quite nice, staff very good on explaining the menu, and the restaurant is very accomodating to us (with a toddler who is not into spicy food). The food is smart, it offer something I never tried before. I love the Korean twist to it, we ordered the milk bun, crispy eggpant, fried chicken, black angus sirloin, and of course bingsoo for desert. Everything so yummy with all the texture being thought carefully (the crunch, the soft, the sticky, yumm!!!!). My favourite is the beef and dessert dish, beef cooked to the perfection. My wife thought the fried chicken and dessert are her favourite. I wish I ate all the dishes with rice (being Indonesian I probably biased towards having rice with everything), by having the dishes on its own I found them in the salty side. I had the beef with rice and they were great together. Apart from that of course good experience!

Cool ambience, didn’t mind reseating us when a better table opened up after we sat down. Good pace for service! Only gripe is a bit of warning or a heads up on how spicy some of the dishes are would be nice - we were told after the fact a dish we ordered was β€œone of the spiciest on the menu”. Apart from that no faults. Great mix of some western classics with Korean flair!

A good dining option in Commercial Bay. I wouldn’t call it a Korean restaurant but more like Korean-inspired. Thoroughly enjoyed the cold noodles, which is a great option for the summer. My next favourite was the chicken sliders which nailed both texture and taste. The fried chicken was good but not outstanding, I’ve had better. It was still a nice touch to our lunch. The cured kingfish was not my cup of tea. Overall a good experience. Price is a little bit on the higher end but the level of service and food justify it. Our waiter was attentive and lovely.

Delicious food, I like the layout of the tables which are around the perimeter. Casual setting great for date night or with friends. Food was all delicious but quite rich and deep fried. The chicken nibbles were very tasty and a large serving to share. Tasty cocktails.
