★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Golden Bay Community Gardens & Sustainable Living Centre have been a big part of my life here in Golden Bay. And i believe they have influenced many others who have been part of this amazing space. Now 32 years old and the second largest they operate with support from members of the Community on the Te Wharerangi Trust, other community members and employees as well as grants form various agencies and NGOs. The Gardens is a place to learn to grow healthy organic food. For those without land they can rent an allotment and practice. Some locals rent space to develop local small businesses. Others visiting or wwoofing get a rewarding experience learning, tending, sharing and celebrating all things healthy, down to earth and natural. Events like Sustainable Golden Bay bring all sorts together to chew the fat over moving more towards sustainability in our region. Our annual Harvest Festival in march is a celebration of food and community.

Many people have passed through these gardens from all over the planet, have been inspired to pass on their experiences in their own communities. The community gardens of Takaka touch the world are an integral part of oneness.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is a very quaint garden. It is set up close to Takaka, right on the main road. A delight to go and browse. We loved the Honey Room, and the very pleasant young man who took his time to explain the different types and benefits of the various kinds of honey.
