★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was one of the best tours we’ve done! Deb was a fantastic guide and helped us navigate the stars through incredible stories and knowledge. She made it a cozy and magical experience as we sat snuggled up in blankets with a hot chocolate under the sparkling skies. Worth every penny for the knowledge we gained.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Deborah and Selina provided a relaxed and enlightening guide through Great Barrier Dark Sky Sanctuary. In December we viewed Sirius, Canopus, Orion, Taurus, Te Waka o Rangi, and Tarantula Nebula among many other observations. Deborah's passion for astronomy resonates through her story telling and eagerness to field questions from the group. We were supplied comfortable chairs, blankets, binoculars, and opportunity to view Magellanic Clouds through a large telescope. Our group finished the evening with tea, hot chocolate, and brownies whilst viewing bioluminescence in Oruawharo Bay.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great experience!
When I am at home, I don’t usually look up because there is so much light pollution. As I investigated Great Barrier as a destination, I wondered - what would it be like to experience a Dark Sky Sanctuary? At the time of booking our flights and lodging, we also booked a private evening with “Good Heavens” and we are so glad we did. Great Barrier has an exceptional dark sky in which starlight shines bright, but with “Good Heavens” it becomes so much more - the night sky comes alive from a different perspective. We spot the famed Southern Cross, the satellite galaxies of the Milky Way, Betelgeuse’s orange glow, Sirius only 8.6 light years away, a parade of five satellites from Elon Musk’s Starlink program – that’s just for starters. What’s the best part? Getting a glimpse of these and much more with our own eyes as well as through her big telescope? Spotting the planet Venus just after dusk and enjoying a magnificent sunset? My eyes scanning the sky to find the first pop out stars of the night? Eating homemade goodies and sipping peppermint tea while sitting under a blanket and listening to a Maori story? Listening, learning and laughing as the stardome captures our undivided attention and fills us up with wonder?
I say “yes” to these all!
“Good Heavens” is a totally enjoyable experience.
