About Handmaid
When yet another young, vibrant friend passed away, it was a sad reminder that life is really too short NOT to celebrate. This was the catalyst to start Handmaid, a business that offered rentals for hire in the greater Wellington region that would provide people with quality items to help them to 'Be the Celebrators', while also treading lightly on the Earth.
Handmaid has a collection of rentals that look great at any event where you want to stand out. If you need someone to provide rental, design and styling in the wider Wellington region with a heap of celebrations under the belt, you've come to right place.
We can't think of a better industry to be surrounded by ALL the good vibes and sooo much love and gratitude. BUT the industry isn't perfect. A lot of waste can be produced and many items used that won’t stand the test of time will enter the landfill after a celebration. So we built a rental/hiring inventory that allows our clients to have something beautiful that can be used over and over and over and over...!
After five years of growing the business and with incredibly positive feedback from our tribe, we decided to focus the business further on sustainability within the wedding and events industries to provide you with more options and ideas for your celebration to be memorable for all the right reasons.

Charlotte was very accomodating in helping and providing a mock up of a very cool setting. Delivery and pick up was smooth, she provided instructions of how to set up then I added my touch and it was perfection ? my sister got a pleasant tearful surprise ... highly recommended ❤️

She went above and beyond to help make our wedding perfect, from providing us with her beautiful Sadie caravan bar to refresh our guests to styling our festival vibe wedding to absolute perfection with her huge range of furniture hire. We met up to plan this day and just clicked, Charlotte is such a gorgeous human inside and out and she took any stress out of planning and logistics from day dot. She worked so hard on the night and we appreciate her so much we would recommend her to anyone!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We've always imagined our wedding with a gipsy/vintage ambiance. We found a retro style venue, but there was something missing. Then I remembered Handmaid with their cute retro caravan and all the gorgeous furnitures and decoration.
For the grass area outside, we hired Kitty cabana with persian rugs, beautiful pillows and some wooden games for the children to have a cosy place to play. Nearby Handmaid installed a retro babington set with a bunting net. It was a big success! Inside the venue, the wedding touch was given by a beautiful and very long bunting guirlande all accross the room.
I definitively recommend handmaid for their excellent service and communication. Charlotte is very easy to work with. Thanks to her professionaslism and kindness, I felt supported all along the wedding preparation phase.
