★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Day surgery team. From the receptionist to the nurses to the docters.what an awesome comforting team. My 24 month old had gone under today to get her teeth pulled out and saved.Dr Sweetapple and another Dr(forgot his name sorry) had did an awesome job looking after my little one while I waited outside in the waiting room.Afterwards they had observed her closely and calmly and were spot on with what they say and do.4 hrs after being discharged I have one happy healthy baby and I'm one happy mama.tp the nurses who comforted and showed love for my baby till I got to the recovery room yous are awesome. Thank you all so much from Harlem and her mum

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ UPDATE 29 TH MARCH 2022 I JUST FOUND OUT FROM THE HEALTH AND DISABILITY COMMISSION THAT AFTER BEING TOLD LAST MONTH JUST A FEW MORE WEEKS THAT IT WOULD BE 3 MONTHS ITS WITH THE DISABILITY COMMISSIONER NOW . IM OVER IT HAVE SUFFERED SEVERE ANXIETY DEPRESSION PTSD WHICH HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BETWEEN THE HOSPITAL THE SURGEON THE HDC ITS SO DEVASTATING TO BE TREATED LIKE THIS IVE HAD TO PAY FOR A LAWYER FOR MONTHS TO GET HELP IM OVER IT still no apology for my botched surgery in 2019 HDC or the hospital or surgeon I still suffer trauma every day for . This hospital is not talked about publicly how bad it is from my own experience last year with botched surgery being left and getting septic . Its a mixture of mis management of money is what the nurses say and ive heard surgeons and doctors say the same , then nurses not knowing what they are doing its bloody terrifying . Its the oldest most run down hospital and noone seems to care . If we get more covid we are stuffed I could write a book on what ive seen with my months in and out of there. And to be honest the major depression and anxiety it caused me I had so many moments I didn't want to even be here. It needs major major investigating they are not prepared in any way shape or form its terrifying . And so many people talk about how horrific it is but nothing is ever done

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After months of a medical problem & no solutions from several outside doctors, on a recent appointment to the Hospital I was introduced to Dr Marijn Sijtsma immediately I found such care , resulting in a procedure that I had been requesting for very many months being offered to me a few days later. Thank you so much Marijn your understanding was priceless..kb

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's taken me years to get over how badly I was treated. At 18 I entered the ED bleeding heavily vaginally, in and out of consciousness, feverish and non-responsive. There were around ten other people there and it took two hours to be seen. People seen before me included a man who wanted his prescription refilled and a lady with a sprained wrist. When I was finally taken back I was questioned repeatedly about pregnancy, and then tested for it and STDs, when they all came back negative I was questioned on drug use and then tested- negative. I complained of extreme pain in my abdomen and numbness in my chest. The doctor rolled his eyes at me and asked if I was actually talking about period cramps. At this point I was prescribed ibuprofen and told it was nothing serious. Over the course of this time it was around three hours. I had soaked through my pants and the bedding and some of it was on the floor. At no point was this cause for alarm for the doctor or nurses. I was not consulted about anything other than supposedly lying about being pregnant or an STI. During my stay I passed several masses which years later I would learn was the result of cysts. Ultimately I've been diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis which is a condition often laughed off by cocky doctors who assume it's dramatics. Never in my life have I been in such indescribable pain. I wasted my time coming into the hospital only to be treated with disinterest and cynicism. I'm not the only person I know who has had terrible treatment here, including several patients who managed to become terminal with cancer despite clear screenings here :) one of which has now passed. All in all, an blight on NZ.
