Heather Matthews is Trade Marketing & Sales Manager at Hawke’s Bay Tourism and is responsible attracting and growing business to Hawke’s Bay through the Trade & Business Events sectors. She does this by maximising the region's representation in global channels, working with local operators on product offerings, and by leveraging partnerships such as Classic New Zealand Wine Trail (CNZWT), eXplore Central North Island and Tourism New Zealand.
After graduating from the University of Auckland, Heather spent eight years working in the tourism industry across the UK, France and Canada, in marketing, sales and product development, and pricing and global distribution strategies. Upon returning to Auckland, she gained invaluable commercial experience with Expedia Inc and Fullers360, before relocating to Hawke’s Bay for the role with Hawke’s Bay Tourism. Her uniquely rounded experience from the core sectors within Tourism – Wholesale, Online Travel and Operator, has her well-placed for her role as Trade Marketing & Sales Manager for Hawke’s Bay Tourism.
Heather keeps busy travelling both domestically & internationally for work and pleasure, and is most content anywhere with good food, good wine and great conversation – something not hard to come by New Zealand's Food & Wine Country.
