About HB ITF Taekwon-Do NZ ITF
NZ ITF is affiliated to the International Taekwon-Do Federation where the HQ has been situated in Vienna, Austria since 1980s and has continued ever since the Founder General Choi Hong Hi passed away.
Our NZ ITF organisation is recognized by the ITF with it’s own Recognition Plaque no: 7875
NZ ITF began as just Hawkes Bay ITF in 2006 where Ben Evans began teaching the special needs students at Havelock North High School every week. When Ben left school in 2008, he opened up classes to more schools during the day and in the evenings during the week. The classes continued to grow with great popularity.
In 2014, Hawkes Bay ITF transitioned into the name NZ ITF as the organisation started to expand in the Hawkes Bay region and outside in parts of Auckland and the Manawatu area.
NZ ITF has been quite successful on the international level for both mainstream and the special needs aspects.
NZ ITF continues to grow slowly with more and more branches and schools opening throughout the country.
NZ ITF supports inclusion of all members with and without disabilities in the community. We would love to hear from you if you were interested in NZ ITF bringing the original Taekwon-Do to your school or if you as a club wished to join us.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing tutor trained my son jayden since he was 7 years old now he’s 17 and still training went to the world champs in Argentina 2018 and won a silver medal as a main stream now he’s 2nd Dan black belt as I had an amazing adventure with ben evans to Russian Argentina world champs now I’m a black belt train hard and you will get you’re opportunities to do things in the club ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ From my time for When I used to Practice & Train in this Martial Art, Yes, I did it without hesitation and did so for fitness. 2015 - 2019.
What I did not enjoy about this Martial Art & Practice is the fact that Mr Evans himself mistreated me at often times.
As for some of his young Teenaged instructors they too had mistreated me big time, like nearly every session before & after.
Lately, even though I'm now doing 2 different Martial Arts 'Gracie Jui Jitsu' & Koryo Tae Kwon Do, I've learnt he has mistreated a few more people now, some of them were children, mostly adults & teenagers being mistreated - I've learnt that because most have came and switched into the Jui Jitsu DoJo.
As for some/or should I say with most of the adults & recent members Who have done this, they also didn't get their refund straight from them too.
Last of all, Who in their ripe Mind think's it is illegal Wanting to do 2 /or 3, Martial Art activity's /or 2 - 3 different sporting Activitys at certain different times, seriously.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Started Taekwondo with ITF and Ben Evans last year, I'd always known he coached ITF after seeing photos in the paper, there was one of him with a special-needs student: the younger brother of some classmates from my Primary school.
I always wanted to learn martial arts and with his history and track record I was intrigued and interested in signing up when our paths crossed in Pak'nSave one afternoon!
He is a great instructor, very motivational and drives his students hard to succeed! I admire this as Ben is a man who drives his students for gold at a gold medal standard, he never encourages people to do second best but to do what we can!
The atmosphere is great and very friendly, even with his recent property upgrades the parents and students are very interactive, at the DoJang and at his events, such as the Interschools - which I last attended at the Pettigrew Green Arena.
I have even seen Ben teach his school classes, it was an honour to participate and I hope to, one day, be able to follow in his footsteps!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Within my time working with Ben. He has a grand reputation. And is determined to insure that the real taekwondo is taught throughout the community. I have been taught much by him and have achieved the goal on becoming one of the first 3rd degree black belts in hawkes-bay. Many people love working with Ben. Kids love him special needs people love him and we have a proud gym right beside the taekwondo center in the same building which I manage. He has great personality when it comes to teaching special needs and often includes them in our mainstream classes. So I would definitely recommend HB ITF because once you get use to the experience you will want to come back again and again.

He is the most genuine, caring and professional person who will go above and beyond for your child and your family. He is positive about what he teaches to all of his students and insures everyone learns the real Taekwon Do in the right way. He is fair and kind and gets to properly know each and one of his students, and motivates them to achieve better and greater things every training.
