Welcome to the Hinuera School community, where everyone plays a part in making our school an exciting and thriving place to be. Our vision of “Learning and Growing” is at the heart of our school and students are prepared for life by being encouraged to become self managers and critical thinkers.
Hinuera School was established in 1892 and it has a long tradition of providing quality education for students. We cater for Year 1-6 children from the Hinuera and Matamata areas.
The school has eight classrooms. We aim to keep class numbers at manageable levels, and numbers in new entrant rooms in particular are kept low to enable children to have the best possible start to their learning. There is a strong emphasis on caring for each other throughout the school, from the youngest to the oldest student, and on displaying our values of respect, resilience and responsibility. At Hinuera we are fortunate to have wonderful staff who have children’s learning and growing as their main focus.
The Board of Trustees and PTA work closely with our staff to provide facilities and a learning environment that supports learning and teaching programmes. Significant changes have been made in recent years to ensure that resources and equipment are available to meet education needs of students and teachers.
